In order to provide convenience and ensure a pleasant stay for tourists visiting our city, we operate 10 tourist information centers including the Daegu Tourist Information Center and the Daegu International Airport Information Center.

Details

The Daegu Tourist Information Center was established with the objective to offer useful domestic and overseas tourist information to the community, while advertising the tourism resources of the Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do areas to the world. The Daegu Tourist Information Center is open every day of the year and has English, Japanese and Chinese interpreters on standby to provide Korean and foreign tourists with  information including transportation and lodging.

Directions

The Daegu Tourist Information Center is located next to the outdoor music hall at Duryu Park. It takes about five minutes on foot from across the entrance of E•WORLD at the Duryu Library to Duryu Park.

Details

The Daegu Airport Information Center is located between the exits for international and domestic routes in the lobby of the Daegu International Airport building. It offers various tourism information for Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do to tourists in English, Japanese and Chinese.

The Daegu Airport Information Center is located in the lobby of the Daegu International Airport. Take Rapid Transit No. 1 from the 2.28 Memorial or 101-1, 401 from Daegu Station.
If you're coming by subway, get off at Ayanggyo (Bridge) Station and take the above bus.

The Dongdaegu Tourist Information Center is located in the Dongdaegu Station Plaza. It not only provides information on tourism, traffic, food, shopping and lodging, but also internet search functions and English, Japanese and Chinese interpretation services.

Take Bus No.; 156 or 521 from Jungang-ro Hanil Theatre.
If you're coming by subway, get off at Dongdaegu Station, and it is located right outside at Dongdaegu Station Plaza.

Details

Palgongsan's (Mt.) pinnacle is the Birobong, which is 1,192m above sea level. On either side are two peaks called Dongbong (east peak) and Seobong (west peak), and it attracts many tourists with its famous Buddhist Temples including Donghwasa, Eunhaesa, Pagyesa, Buinsa, Songnimsa, etc, as well as the Palgonsan skyline. In addition, various local foods such as Palgongsan Herbal bibimbap, acorn-starch jelly, country tofu, etc. offer a flavorful experience, while many visitors come to see Treasure No. 431, the Gwanbong Stone Buddhist Statue.
This information center introduces the long history and cultural artifacts of Palgongsan, while providing tourist information for the entire downtown Daegu area in English, Japanese and Chinese.

Directions

Take rapid transit no. 1 bus and get off at the Palgongsan three-way street and walk towards Donghwasa (temple).  The information center is located right across the bridge.

Details

The Dongseongno Tourist Information Center, which is located on Dongseong-ro, a street in the heart of downtown, opened on June 1, 2002 and offers tourists shopping, transportation and lodging information, internet search services and interpretation services.

The Daegu Station Tourist Information Center is located at Daegu Station Plaza, the gateway to Daegu, and provides tourist information to both domestic and foreign tourists.

Details

Yangyeongsi, Daegu is a traditional street for oriental herbal medicines with a history of over 350 years, and visitors here can experience the essence of eastern medicine.

In addition, located together with the herbal medicine wholesale markets, Yangyeongsi exhibit also displays various herbal medicines, medicinal books and instruments. The Yangyeongsi Tourist Information Center offers English and Japanese interpretation services, and visitors can also listen to explanations provided by scholars of cultural properties.

  • Tourism in Daegu provides culture and tour guides.
    • - A culture and tour guide for local and foreign visitors to the Daegu region will give detailed explanations about the historical backgrounds of Daegu’s major tourist attractions.
  • What are culture and tour guides?
    • - The culture and tour guides are people located at the various tourist attractions, including cultural heritage sites, who will provide factual explanations to local and foreign tourists about the cultural assets (ancient palace, Buddhist temples, folklore, intangible culture, historical sites, natural monuments, etc.), local culture, and tourism resources to be found in Daegu. Thus, tourists will have every chance of better appreciating culture and tourism in Daegu.
  • How to find a culture and tour guide?
    • - Currently, there are 104 culture and tour guides working at 27 major attractions from February to November. Anyone who visits a location with a culture and tour guide may enjoy a detailed explanation about the relevant cultural asset or and tourist attraction.

  • How to select a culture and tourism guide
    • - The guides are Daegu residents who are graduates of the relevant departments at the universities. They are equipped with basic knowledge about Daegu’s historical and cultural assets and tourist attractions, and include local historians, former teachers and housewives. They are also fluent in foreign languages (English/Japanese/Chinese) and were selected through open calls that took place in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008, and 2009, respectively. They all received professional education from outstanding educational institutions, and currently, there are 104 culture and tourism guides working at 27 tourist attractions.
  • What sort of services do culture and tourism guides provide?
    • - The guides offer a detailed and factual explanation about the history and culture behind Daegu’s tourist attractions, such as cultural heritage sites, so as to increase visitor understanding and ensure a memorable experience is had by all. Local and foreign visitors will find the guides’ unique and in-depth interpretation of Daegu’s cultural heritage, local culture and tourist attractions to be invaluable during their stay.
      Also, the culture and tourism guides will make continuous efforts to improve their qualifications, including follow-up training on culture tourism, on-site exploration of cultural heritage sites, and lectures on various culture and tourism training programs. They will widely spread the high value of Daegu’s cultural assets and tourism resources, while also taking the lead in making sure citizens take an active interest in Daegu’s culture, history and tourism industry.
