Daegu City said it has built a new tourist information center, while relocating another, as part of its efforts to raise the city’s image as a tourist hotspot and provide a better service.
Daegu City said it is building a tourist information center at the Exhibition Convention Center (EXCO) where many large-scale domestic and international events take place. To better cater to the growing number of Chinese visitors, Daegu City said it has recently completed relocating the tourist information center at the airport so that it is closer to the international-flights terminal. It began full operations on Jan. 25.
About 1.8 million visitors are estimated to visit EXCO each year, earning it a reputation as the city’s major convention facility, according to Daegu City. It noted that it has run tourism promotional booths every time EXCO has hosted a major event.
However, seeing the need for steady marketing efforts, the city has set up a tourist information booth on the first floor of EXCO’s new annex building, equipping it with two interpreters so visitors can seek information whenever in need.
Daegu City highlighted that the Daegu International Airport’s tourist information center was relocated to the busy waiting areas near the international-flights terminal to make the facility more accessible. The center has been equipped with four service representatives ready to provide services in foreign languages. With the backdrop of the center featuring a picture iconic of the region, Daegu City said it looks forward to the site having a visual marketing impact.
