City judged as best organization entity in discovery, implementation of good policy and projects

The Daegu Metropolitan City has applied for and received the top grade in three categories of good policy, namely improvement of business environment, development of culture and tourism products, and environmental management of the good policy assessment, in the “7th Korea Local Autonomy Management Award” hosted jointly by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security. The city was thus awarded the presidential award, or the general grand prize, during the “Opening Ceremony and Award Ceremony for the Seventh Local Autonomy Management Awards,” which took place at the COEX Exhibition Center in Seoul at 10:30 a.m. on December 22.

○ Daegu won the general grand prize in the three categories -- improvement of business environment, development of culture and tourism products, and environmental management of the good policy assessment -- as it won recognition for developing and implementing good policies that distinguish it from other metropolitan and municipal governments.

○ Daegu Mayor Kim Beom-il, said, “Despite a challenging environment, we secured the glorious award after 2.5 million citizens and some 10,000 civil servants joined hands and stepped up efforts to generate a new growth engine,” adding, “We will continue to develop and execute various policies to improve the environment and enhance the quality of citizens’ lives.”
