Conduct of Ecological Stream Restoration Projects
Project for improvement of water quality and environment at Shincheon stream (2007~2012)
Seeks to develop Shincheon into a clean urban stream rated Grade 1 in water quality that can provide a swimming
   place for children and a habitat for black snails.
Location: Geumho River and Shincheon areas (Jung-gu, Dong-gu, Nam-gu, Buk-gu, Suseong-gu wards)
Scale: 120,000 tons/day (channel flow for maintenance: Processed sewage water ⇒ Stream water)
 
Beomeo-cheon ecological stream restoration project (2009 ~ 2012)
Seeks to develop Beomeo-cheon, located along the marathon route of the IAAF World Championships in Athletics
   Daegu 2011, into a clean and ecological stream
Location: Beomeo-cheon in Suseong-gu (Doosan Ogeori ~ Shincheon confluence point)
Scale: Restoration of ecological stream: L = 1.96km (implemented in phases)
  - Phase 1: Doosan Ogeori ~ Children’s Hall (L = 1.60km)
  - Phase 2: Taewang Honors Aprartment ~ Shincheon confluence point (L = 0.36km)
 
Daemyeong-cheon ecological stream restoration project (2009 ~ 2012)
Seeks to develop Daemyeong-cheon which lost its function as a stream because of household wastewater,
   into an ecological park for local residents
Location: Daemyeong-cheon, Dalseo-gu (Janggi-dong ~ Wolseong Rainwater Pumping Station)
Scale: Restoration of ecological stream: L = 3.8km
 
Operation, Maintenance and Expansion of Sewage Treatment Facilities
Expansion and repair of sewerage facilities, and replacement of aged facilities to solve chronic drainage problems,
     thus creating a clean and safe living environment, and maximizing sewage treatment efficiency
 
Expansion and streamlining of sewerage facilities (2009)
Drainage facilities for collecting polluted water
Repair of aged drainage facilities
Dredging of drainage facilities
 
Construction of Hyeonpung Sewage Treatment Plant (2003 ~ 2013)
Facility scale: 45,000/day (Phase 1: 23, Phase 2: 22), Drainage facilities for sewage collection: 25.96㎞
 
Installation of sewage sludge treatment (2004 ~ 2011)
SEfforts to install treatment facilities in preparation for a ban on the dumping of waste and sewage
   in the ocean, and to process sludge in an economic and stable fashion
Facility capacity: 500 tons/day
 
Repair and Expansion of Waste Water Treatment Facilities
As water quality standards for released water will be toughened beginning in 2012, facilities for high-speed flocculating
    setting and treatment will be installed to reduce T-P levels at water sewage treatment plants
 
Construction of Dalseong Industrial Complex Phase 2 Sewage Treatment Plant (Apr 2005~Jun 2010)
Facility scale: 4,500㎥/day
Current status: Test operation underway after completion of construction, progress ratio: 99%
 
Seongseo High-tech Industrial Complex Phase 5 Sewage-linked Treatment Project (2008 ~ 2010)
Facility scale: 4,000 tons/day(L=7.96㎞, D=250~300mm)
 
Establishment of a basic plan for construction of the Technopolis sewage treatment facility (Aug 2008 ~ Jun 20106)
Facility capacity: 8,000 tons/day (wastewater: 5,000 tons/day, sewage 3,000 tons/day)
 
Installation of Water Pollution Reduction Facilities
Installation of non-point source pollution reduction facilities at Seobu Sewage Treatment Plant (Dec 2006 ~ Sep 2009)
Facility capacity: 30,000 tons/day (high rate solid contact unit)

Drills to prevent water pollution accidents: 2 times/year

: Operating an efficient aggregate water pollutant management system by setting attainable goals in consideration of both

: Seek to implement measures to effectively prevent water pollution accidents through reinforced management of water
  pollutants and instant response in the event of an accident during periods of water shortage
 
Conduct special surveillance activities at streams to prevent water pollution accidents during periods of water shortage
Enhance capacity to cope with a crisis by conducting simulation drills: two times yearly during the first and
     second half
Instant response in the event of an accident by establishing an early surveillance system with related organizations
